China Visa

Most travelers to China will require a Visa. Requirements for each country may vary slightly however for the most obtaining an L or tourist visa is a fairly simple process.   Most countries will have a Chinese consulate or Embassy however for those of you that don't live near a major City you will be better advised to opt for one of the many Visa agencies that abound.

What Type of Visa do I need for a Holiday in China

 

There are eight different kinds of Chinese Visa however for the most you will only require a Tourist Visa known as an L Category Visa

   
 

Validity

 

Tourist Visas are generally issued with a validity period of three months and enable the bearer to remain in China for a period not exceeding 30 days. In certain Countries like Hong Kong it is possible to get stays of 90 days. Tourist Visas are issued as single, double or multiple entry, again for the most a single entry will suffice unless you plan on traveling in and out of China during your proposed stay.  If you plan on staying longer than thirty days then L or Tourist Visas are easily converted or extended from within China without the need to leave the Country. The maximum period of stay in China without leaving is 365 days.

   
 

Where To Apply for a Chinese Visa

 

Most major Cities in most Countries will have a Chinese Embassy or Consulate and applications are usually invited by post or walk in. There are also numerous agencies land and virtually based that can process your Chinese Visa application.

   
 

What is the Cost of a Chinese Visa

 

Cost of a standard single entry 30 day visa will vary slightly from Country to Country but as a rule of thumb it should not set you back more than USD $30 $50 plus any agency fees. Your best bet is to shop around, below are a couple of reliable agencies that charge reasonable prices.
