Tips on Transfers, Airports, Train and Bus Stations

Transport hubs are notorious throughout the world and China is no exception. Never entertain any individual that approaches you with offers for taxi, bus or to carry your bags. Official Taxis at airports and train stations are usually reliable however with bus stations it is better to walk a way and get a moving taxi rather than a stationery one. If you are coming from overseas or traveling with  a lot of luggage then it is better to arrange your airport pick-up before arriving at the airport.

Chongqing

Chongqing is well serviced by both rail and air from most departure points in China. Traveling by train can be time consuming as the Chongqing and the surrounding region is very mountainous. Chongqing can also be reached directly by air from both Hong Kong and Bangkok. Transfers from Chongqing Airport to downtown or the port vica-versa in a private vehicle with English speaking guide costs around USD 60 for 3 in a car.

Yichang

Yichang is not quite as accessible as Chongqing however there are good train and air services from China's main Cities.  Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Kunming and Xian all have flights to and from Yichang, trains run to Shanghai, Guangzhou, Beijing and take in some other major cities that are en-rote like Nanchang, Zhengzhou. Transfers from Yichang Airport to downtown or the port vica-versa in a private vehicle with English speaking guide costs around USD 45 for 3 in a car.
